Titanic Escape Simulator Sinking: Survival Mechanics

The final act

Level 7 is called The Sinking, and it is where the game stops being an investigation. The developer’s own description of this phase is unusually specific, and every mechanic below comes from it.

Four things the ship does to you:

  • Rising water. The flooding is progressive, not scripted set-dressing — routes you used earlier go under.
  • Tilting decks. The ship’s angle changes as it goes down, which changes how spaces are traversed.
  • Blocked paths. Routes collapse or close. The description is explicit that paths disappear.
  • Failing lights. Lighting degrades as systems fail. You have a flashlight, confirmed in the patch notes.

Two things you manage:

  • Cold. Named as a survival mechanic. The North Atlantic in April is the whole point.
  • Stamina. Also named. Movement is a resource here in a way it is not earlier in the game.

Alongside those, the description lists blocked routes and physical hazards as things to be managed rather than simply avoided.

What the numbers say about difficulty

The completion rate for this level is 11.2% of everyone who owns the game. The level before it, The Cold Frequency, sits at 13.9%. So of the players who reach the final level, roughly four in five finish it — the sinking is not where most people fail.

The real attrition happens much earlier. Level 2 to Level 3 loses nearly two in five of the remaining players, going from 40.9% to 24.9%. By the time you reach the water, you are in the group that was always going to see the end.

That is worth knowing if the sinking is the reason you bought the game: the obstacle between you and it is the investigation, not the flooding.

What players say about it

The sinking act is the single most praised part of the game in positive reviews. Recurring themes: the shift from calmly admiring interiors to genuine panic, the pressure of searching for an exit while the geometry changes, and the weight of realising you cannot save everyone. Several positive reviews are essentially about this act alone.

Negative reviews rarely single it out — their complaints are with bugs, NPC behaviour and asset provenance rather than the finale. See is it real for that argument in full.

Then the choice

Surviving Level 7 does not end the game by itself. The final moments present a decision the developer frames as justice, love, or saving as many lives as possible, and it splits into three endings. Their rates — 10.2%, 5.4% and 5.3% — are on the endings page.

Practical notes

Patch first. Version 1.0.1 fixed a progression-blocking bug earlier in the game that could strand a player entirely. Reaching the sinking on an unpatched build is a worse gamble than it needs to be. See patch notes.

Rebind if you need to. Arrow key movement and broader keyboard customisation arrived in 1.0.1. An act built on timed movement is the wrong place to be fighting your keybinds. See controls and settings.

Where you are in the game. The route through all seven levels is mapped on the walkthrough.
